Common info

The Republic of Bulgaria is located in the southeastern Europe. It has an area of 111 thousand km.2, bordered on the North by Romania, on the west by Serbia and Macedonia, on south by Greece and Turkey and on the east - by the Black Sea. Its population is 7.5 million people. Its capital is Sofia with a population of 2.5 million people.

The city of Veliko Tarnovo is situated in the natural geographical center of Bulgaria and is at approximately equal distance from the major airports (in Sofia, Varna and Burgas) and land borders (Dunav Most - Ruse / Romania Kalotina / Serbia and Kulata / Greece).

The city has an ancient history. In the Middle Ages it was the capital of Bulgaria - a center of political, religious and cultural life. The Tsarevets Hill (The King's Home Hill) stands proudly above the winding around it as a natural moat Yantra River. The remains of over 40 churches are located on the neighboring Trapezitsa Hill. There are more than 10 monasteries with ancient history in the vicinity.
